Feasts and the Second Coming

Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and Booths are the appointments people try to lay on a day still ahead. The suspicion is old. It is not a date, and the texts do not make it one.

September 28, 2026

The feasts the apostles treat as filled are in Feasts of the First Coming. This sitting is the other reading. People look at the fall appointments, and at the Jubilee, and they suspect a future day.

Say the limit before the details. No one knows the day or the hour. A feast can instruct. An alignment of feasts is not a sentence from heaven. The warning against turning that into a schedule is in Watching Wisely. The dates themselves, and the months they usually fall in, are on Feasts of Israel.

A suspicion is allowed as a reading. It is not a calendar.

Trumpets

The first day of the seventh month. A memorial of trumpet blasts, a sabbath, an offering. On our calendar that is usually September or October. The month began when the new moon was seen, so the day was announced when the witnesses came in. It was not a date you could post a year ahead.

The hope of His coming has trumpets in it. The Lord himself will descend with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise. The last trumpet is in the same chapter as the resurrection of the body. Jesus speaks of sending His angels with a loud trumpet call to gather the elect.

Those lines are about a trumpet at His coming. They do not say "this is the Feast of Trumpets." The feast is a memorial of blasts. The coming has a blast. Putting the two on the same square is a suspicion people have held because both are a summons, and because the feast's own day was the one Israel could not know until the moon was seen. "No one knows the day or the hour" is a sentence about the Son of Man. It is not a riddle whose answer is Tishri 1.

Hold the trumpet. Do not spend it on a year.

The Day of

The tenth of that same month. Hebrews already reads the priestly work of that day as done. One sacrifice, once, and He sat down. That belongs to the first coming. It is not waiting for a second goat.

What some readers still look for is not another offering. It is a people. They shall look on me, whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn. Paul speaks of a day when all Israel will be saved, and he quotes the Deliverer coming from Zion. Those texts are about and a coming Deliverer. They do not name the tenth of Tishri.

The suspicion is that the fast, the affliction, and the cleansing of a people sit near that future mourning. It is a shape people notice. It is not a verse that schedules the appearing on the tenth. And it cannot be a second sacrifice. Hebrews closed that door.

Booths

The fifteenth of the seventh month, seven days in booths, and an eighth day. Israel lived in tents, and God was with them.

This is the fall feast with the plainest future line, and the line is not "He arrives on the fifteenth." Zechariah says the Lord will go out and fight, and His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives. Then, after that appearing, the survivors of the nations go up year by year to worship the King and to keep the Feast of Booths. The feast in that chapter is what the nations do when the King is here. It is not the countdown to the day He comes.

John uses the same word for the end. The dwelling of God is with men. He will dwell with them. The Word already became flesh and made His dwelling among us. So "God with us" is not only future. Booths, in Zechariah, is still a feast kept after the feet stand on the mountain. Read that as a future worship. Do not read it as a date you can circle.

Jesus stood up on the last day of the feast, while it was still His first coming, and cried that anyone who thirsts should come to Him. The feast can carry a word before it carries a future. Both are in the book.

Jubilee, if the year is still ahead

The Jubilee is the fiftieth year. The trumpet is on the Day of Atonement. Land returns. Debts let go. In Nazareth He said today. The liberty of the captives is not waiting.

Some readers still suspect a year, in the kingdom, when the land promise is handled in the open and the release is not only in the heart. The prophets do speak of land, of return, and of a people planted. Those chapters are not a sentence that says "the next Jubilee is the year." Nazareth is not cancelled by the suspicion. If a future release of land is in the text, it is in those promises, not in a math of sevens that finally names a date.

What to do with the suspicion

The pattern people love is tidy. , unleavened bread, firstfruits, and Pentecost fell on Him in order, so Trumpets, Atonement, and Booths must be the next three appointments on the clock. The first half of that sentence is mostly what the apostles say. The second half is the part they do not say.

You can learn the feasts. You can see why a trumpet, a mourning, and a God who dwells with His people sound like the end. You may not turn the seventh month into a prediction. The day is not posted. The feast is not the posting.

If you want the hope without the calendar, stay with The Second Coming. If you want the appointments as Israel kept them, stay with the list.
